from Rev Paul Beautyman - Missions Co-ordinator

Letter of Recommendation - To whom it may concern

My name is the Rev Paul Beautyman and I am the Missions Co-ordinator for the Church of Scotland. In this remit I enable churches to run outreach projects for children and young people.

It is in this context that I have worked with Steven Thomson. I met him when he was thirteen and I worked in his church in Stirling on a week's project. Since then I have seen him grow up and take part in a variety of missions across Scotland. When I was planning to set up a web-site for our organisation I knew Steven was studying web-design as part of his honour's degree in Information Management at University. Working as part of a team, I asked Steven if he could give Church of Scotland mission teams a presence on the internet and maintain the site on a voluntary basis. Steven has maintained the site which has gone through several major re-designs since May 1999 and he is now part of a group called the Church of Scotland Missions Publicity Group which actively looks at ways of promoting God's good news in Jesus through the use of leaflets, posters, merchandise eg t-shirts, publicity events and the web site.

Since the start of the web-site I have received positive feedback. Most people are impressed by the quality of the site and the details which are found there. The web-site has been an important resource for me in giving out information but also in contacting people who have then taken part in events that I organise. The web-site has helped change the image of the organisation as part of our main change replacing 'Summer Mission' with 'Impact'.

I have no hesitation in recommending Steven to anyone considering having a web-site built. He is an honest, friendly and skilled web-site designer who has much to offer. He works well as part of a team responding to a remit and instructions given however he also has initiative in dealing with problems which occur and responds well to these situations while always feeding these discussions back into the main group.
